The Marriage Schedule

A marriage cannot take place without the correct legal document - the Marriage Schedule.

This schedule is issued by the Registrar's Office.

The phone number and address of your Registrar can be found in the phone book.

Birth Certificates and any divorce documents must be taken to the Registrar BEFORE the marriage can take place and the required documents filled in.

Get in touch with your Registrar at least 6 weeks before the wedding and check where the form can be picked up and when it needs to be returned to them.Check if other documents are required.

The Marriage Schedule is normally issued to you sometime in the week before your marriage is due to take place and should be brought to the wedding rehearsal before the wedding. Any outstanding fees to the church should be paid at this time.

NON-EEA NATIONALS

If you are a non-EEA national the pre-marriage registration is likely to take a much longer time. It can, in fact, take many months. If you are a non-EEA national please contact the Registrar before setting the date of your wedding.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MARRIAGE SCHEDULE WHICH HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE REGISTRAR YOU CANNOT BE MARRIED.
